Avon Ultra Color Rich

Product description: Creamy color that shapes and defines lips. Wider coverage for easier application. Nonfeathering moisturizing formula. (Intense shades are great for deeper skin tones.)

I am not a lipstick girl, but I do like the Ultra Color RIch collection from Avon. The are creamy and very moisturizing. The go on well and the colors are awesome.

Still haven't figured out why it's called tangerine when it is clearly pink. LOL!  But it is still a nice color.

Makeup 101 (for beginners): BRUSHES

Makeup Brushes


Applying makeup is not just another thing on your todo list for the day. Whether you’re applying it to yourself or another person, it is a form of art and expression. Makeup should be used to enhance you natural beauty. Having the proper tools, to assist in the application whether it’s personal or professional will make all the difference!

Makeup brushes come in a plethora of types and styles. The bristles can be synthetic or natural (badger, goat hair).They each serve a specific purpose.

FACE BRUSHES

Foundation brush: Used to apply liquid foundation to face and neck. Usually with long and flat bristles which taper at the end.

Powder Brush: Used for a variety of things including a shimmer to cheeks or a bronzer. Also in applying loose powder over foundation, to set it. Has fluffy bristles.

Concealer Brush: Used to apply concealer to imperfections on the face. (A smaller version of the foundation)

Blusher Brush: Used to apply blush on the cheeks. Two types, it can be angled or big & fluffy.

LIP BRUSH: Used to apply lipgloss or lipstick to the lips.

EYE BRUSHES

Eyeliner brush: used to line the eyes with precision. (really thin brush)

Shading (eyeshadow) brush: used to apply pigments or pressed shadows to lid,

Crease brush (pencil): for applying color to the crease, and outer V, and lower lash line.

Blending brush: used to blend colors in the crease.

Eyebrow Brush (spoolie): used to help shape the brows giving it a defined and precise arch.

Kabuki Brush: used to apply powered makeup such as blush, foundation and bronzer. It has a short handle and flat or sometimes rounded head.

FOTD Naked Palette

Well I was going to do a tutorial but the lighting was totally off, as I watched I could hardly see anything I was putting on. So I made it my FOTD.

This is what I use on sundays. My Sunday staple is my Urban Decay NAKED palette. I try to keep it simple and natural (for me that is anything gold, copper, bronze) I love my shimmer...

You can kick it up a notch by using a bright colored pencil on lower lash line. I have used, teal, purple, blue. On days when I need to fake being awake, I use a white or silver liner in my water line.

These two are some of my favorites because they are combos.
The smokey is awesome because it combines 4 of NYX's small individual "smokey look" palettes along with blush, bronzer, cream glitters and lip gloss. Yeah its a lot.  But for the price of only 2 small smokey palettes. $22 (Do you hear the angels singing). The Golden Goddess is also great for all that is in there; bronzers, highlights, eyeshadows etc. They are also great for traveling.

Collection of Palettes Part 1

Coastal Scents

I get a lot of questions on the best makeup products to invest in. If you are just beginning, or just don’t want to spend a lot of money, I believe palettes are the way to go.

As I stated in the video, palettes give you a lot of product for a great price. You can get a variety of palettes:

Eyeshadow // Blush // LipGloss // Concealer // Foundation // COMBO

I placed combo in caps because this is the best one for your pocket. In a combo palette, you get not just more than one product but more than one type of product i.e. eyeshadow & lipgloss OR lipgloss and blush OR blush & bronzer etc.

So as requested, every day this week I will post pictures of my palette collection by brand. In no particular order of course.

Avon True Color Shadow Stick

These sticks are very pigmented. they are cream-to-powder buildable matte coverage with a hint of shimmer. I have to say they are not well to wear alone. They work best as a base for your eyeshadow, and that's how I use them.

Some complain of creasing, but I haven't had that problem!

Out With The Old

Hey beauties, as we have entered a new year, it is time to do a cosmetic overhaul.

Just like food makeup and skin care products do EXPIRE; some sooner than others. Here is a simple breakdown.

Mascara expires fast: Throw out after 4-6 months. NOTE: don't pump the wand in and out -- you're only exposing the product to air which will cause it to dry out faster

     My faves: Maybelline falsies and L’OREAL Voluminous

Eyeshadow will last you up to 3 years, (there is no water so bacteria can’t grow) NOTE when used on a damp flat angled brush, eyeshadow can be used as an eyeliner!

     My faves: Urban Decay, Coastal Scents, Smashbox, NYX

Pencil Eye/Lip Liner trash after 3 years. NOTE: Sanitize with a spritz of alcohol after sharpening.

     My faves: MUFE (MakeUp ForEver), NYX, Urban Decay, Sephora

Foundation: water based goes up to 12 months, oil based goes to 18 months. Note: Shake regularly to limit separation of product!

     My faves: MUFE HD, Revlon Photo ready

Powders, blushes, bronzers: up to 2 years, like eyeshadows they lack water, the favorite playing ground for bacteria!

     My fave: E.L.F (Eyes Lips Face) HD Powder, MUFE HD Powder, NARS blush

LipStick: can go up to 14-16 months. NOTE: Sanitize with a spritz of alcohol.

     My faves: NYX, Chanel

LipGloss: Like mascara can expire quickly, toss after 6 months, especially if color begins to change or it has a foul odor.

     My faves: NYX, AVON, E.L.F.

Always keep your makeup brushes, sponges and applicators clean. It will be hygienic for you and your clients, also it will help extend the shelf life of your makeup. Wash your makeup brushes very often in warm soapy water with a brush cleaner or with baby shampoo. If possible keep  separate sets of brushes; one for personal one for professional. Sponges should be washed every week and rinsed in cool water but replaced every few months. Of course pro brushes should be cleaned after every client!!!
