Sally Girl Eyeshadow

Hello Diamonds,

A month ago I finally found a Sally's Beauty supply store :-). I have to admit I was not very fond of the store itself, but I have gotten over that (trying). I went again with my sister-girl Candy. As she shopped I found myself huddled over the smallest makeup rack I had ever seen, and it was holding tiny eyeshadows.
Well after getting over how small it all was. I decided to grab four eyeshadows that stood out to me. Yippee!

They are called E/S Connecting Compacts, and they come a variety of colors.

They are individual, but slide together allowing
you to make a personalized palette!
That is soo cool!
Purple Passion, Emerald, White chocolate, Turquoise

The purple and blue have glitter in them (but nor much). The texture is nice and smooth, not chalky. They go on smooth as well and blend easily together. I am looking forward to trying the rest of them as they all look really pretty and the packaging allows me the option of only carrying the colors I really want!

Make it a beautiful day!

Morning Diamonds,

Over the last couple of months, I have become addicted to my Urban Decay "NAKED" palette!
It is probably the most sought after makeup palette.
I was fortunate to find the orginal set which included the double ended 24/7 eyeliner pencils in Zero/Whiskey. But after such high demand they no longer come with the duo pencil but with a "professional quality, cruelty-free Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush"
This palette is packed with a dozen beautiful neutrals, ranging from champagnes to dark, shimmery silver. Also includes different textures: from glitter to shimmer to matte.

Now I know many people can't get their hands on this palette...but there is an alternative.
For about half the price of the NAKED palette you can get the NUDE ON NUDE palette from one of my favorite brands, NYX Cosmetics. This set has TWENTY neutral eye shadows AND it calso has a pull out section containing ten vibrant lip colors. How awesome is that! This palette comes with a mirror and 2 applicators.

I love both palettes, and they each are amazingly pigmented! They have great colors too. So now that you know there is a alternative which will you get. Do you already have on or both products, what do you thinkof them? Share your experience!

The Battle of the Cleaners!

Which do I prefer?

Honestly, I clean my brushes with gentle baby shampoo and a touch of Sephora's Brush Shampoo. The combination of the two works great for me, and if I am really feeling fancy, I will condition them too. Yes I said it...I CONDITION my brushes. I do own a M.A.C brush cleaner, but rarely use it!
After being in (makeup) school for 3 weeks I quickly realized why I don't use it. This product really sucked. It takes forever to get the makeup out of my brushes. As an MUA I have to clean my brushes quickly and efficiently, and this did not do the job. I felt as though I had to grind the brushes into my hand and/or paper towel and there was still sooo much product left, and the brush hairs began to come out. *grinds teeth* What I found that really works is the MAC Gently Off eye & lip makeup remover. (angels singing) Because of the oil in this product, the makeup comes off super smooth and twice as fast. I don't have to work as hard, and my brushes don't lose hairs.

Barely used

Barely any left

In a nutshell, I will not restock the brush cleaner. I found it to be a waste and my fellow classmates felt the same! I will however continue to use the makeup remover until I find a lower brand eye makeup remover (with oil) and use that for on the spot, between faces, cleaning!

Swatch Time: M.A.C shadows!

While in school we were given M.A.C. Student kits which included eyeshadows, blush concealers, etc..
They give you 10 leaving you with room for 5 more of your choice!

Here are 9 of the 10 they gave...(I already re-organized my M.A.C e/s's so I don't remember what the tenth one was) LOL

L to R: Chrome Yellow, Passionate, Bio Green, Deep Truth

I love these colors, they are very vibrant and blendable. When used with a white (or even black) base they are amazing. Unfortunately we never used them in class :-(

These are fabulous natural/neutral every day colors!

Update...Makeup School!!

Hello My Diamonds,

It has been 2 weeks since I posted!. I have missed it dearly, but have been sooo busy with school!
If you follow me on Twitter or facebook you know that I am enrolled in a 3 week makeup program at Empire Beauty School in Manhattan NY.

The program is really geard towards the individual who has no or limited knowledge "lol" about makeup. I however wanted a little more guidance in my skills and techniques as an MUA...(more training and practice never killed anybody)

It has been a great yet challenging experience thus far. I am studying under a great MUA Orlando Santiago. He is hilarious and yet very passionate about his work and the Art of Makeup!
I can't even begin to pour out everything we have learned!

So far we have done:
Documentary makeup, Daytime, Evening, Fashion, Strip Lashes (ugh), Smokey eye (whoo hoo), and body paint (hmm), Contouring (everyone loves a slimmer nose)!

Here are just a few pics of some of the models I have worked on. Mr Santiago keeps us busy!
(note: these are the AFTER pics)...LOL

before and after pics will be on my FB page...eventually. LOL

Make it a beautiful Day!
